The grand premiere of Mora Etienne’s latest creation titled “Profonds Regrets”
A star studded crowd walked the red carpet
of the Embassy Suite in Boca Raton Sunday April 24 to attend the grand premiere
of Mora Etienne’s latest creation titled “Profonds Regrets”.
This
beautiful film starring Mora in the role of Dario and the beautiful Fabienne
Colas in the role of Winodia took me by surprise. It is a well thought love
story so funny that I had difficulty keeping a straight face.
It’s the
story of Dario (Mora Jr. Etienne) who came to Miami to find the love of his life
Winodia (Fabienne Colas). Winodia had to face hardship when she was kicked out
of her house by her Mother who didn’t approve of her relationships. In her
moment of despair she met the evil Vayoline (Clerdine Augustin) who tried to
hook her up with the pimp Tchuko (Ronsard St-Cyr). Dario found out and left
Winodia. Meanwhile, Dario met the lovely Lia (Nice Simon) who died of a heart
ailment while Winodia’s life took a sharp turn after having won 40 million
dollars in the Florida lottery.
The “regrets” part comes when Dario tried
to win back the love of Winodia only to find out that she was already engaged to
the guy who sold her the winning ticket.
In all, this is one of the
finest Haitian films I’ve seen lately. It is well thought out and well produced.
Fabienne Colas sparkled on the screen. She is the most talented actress
I know. I’ve seen her fit all roles from the dressed down maid on Barikad to the
sophisticated Winodia. I believe she belongs on a same screen with Julia Roberts
or Nicole Kidman. Her talents definitely match her great looks.
I was
pleasantly surprised by the performance of rookie actor Ronsard St-Cyr. His
height and demeanor made him the perfect fit to play Tchuko the womanizer pimp.
Maybe his days as a Police Commander helped him prepare for that
role.
Nice Simon is her vantage self. Very beautiful and talented, she
was at ease as Lia.
Mora Jr. Etienne finally made it. After some sub par
productions, he hits the big one with “Profonds Regrets”. A talented actor
himself, he was the perfect Dario. His nonchalant style, his dress down look,
his funny lines all contribute to what we can say is his best performance
ever.
Filmed entirely in South Florida, “Profonds Regrets” will be loved
by all.
